When you find yourself waking up in the middle of the night, did you ever think that it could be related to the food that you ate during the day?
I know I for sure did not ever think that the food I ate during the day was effecting the sleep I would be having that night. Food is the fuel that we need to operate on, if we feed ourselves the "wrong fuel," the body tell us in different ways.
One of the ways being that the body speaks to us, is how we respond to the activities we do every day. If we have a disrupted sleep we should take that as a cue to pay attention to what we did to ourselves to create that result. Who knew that Newton's third law of motion would prevail is so many areas.
"For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction."
We know that food or the fuel we give our bodies during the day may be a contributing factor to our sleep patterns now the question is why. When we consume food that causes the blood sugar to raise before bed it causes elevated blood sugar levels, this triggers the kidney's to go to work at gathering the excess sugar from the body.
What this means, as the kidney is doing its job of getting the excess gathered your body, then needs to get rid of what the kidney's have collected causing you to have to go to the washroom.
The effect that the excess sugar may be having on your life is most likely great. With the disruption of sleep, the body is not getting a deep enough or long enough period of rest. Once this cycle of lack of sleep continues for a while, the body begins to enter into a state of sleep deprivation.
This is where the morning moodiness, short temperateness, lack of focus, inability to focus for long periods of time and irritability through out your day. All of these factors can add up to a huge decrease in quality of life for you and for those you choose to share your life with.
The solution is simple, the body knows what it likes and dislikes. We must acknowledge what the truth is for one's self.
One's truth is one's perception... If you are comfortable with waking up in the night to go the bathroom, then continue the path that you have been on, if you would like to explore other options, there are plenty out there for you.
